A portable toilet cabin fell this Thursday afternoon from the height of the Centenary Bridge, in Seville, currently under construction. The object ended up in the middle of the road, breaking into pieces and dispersing its contents. Traffic was stopped, but according to local media there were no injuries or material damage. The event, which occurred around 5.30pm, was captured in a video published by a TikTok profile in which the toilet can be seen collapsing while it was being moved with a crane from the work underway on the bridge to replace the infrastructure stays.
The passenger compartment fell into the central lane of the road, interrupting the passage of cars that were crossing the bridge at low speed, as seen in the video. Although there was a large flow of vehicles at that moment, the bomb did not fall on any of them.
The works on the Centenario Bridge, which crosses the Alfonso XIII Canal in the port of Seville, are carried out by the Acciona company, for an amount of approximately 100 million euros. This operation, which was the largest project awarded in recent years by the Ministry of Transport to the city of Seville, has come under scrutiny for its relation to the corruption case of former socialist leader Santos Cerdán, who allegedly had a particular interest in having the project banned.
