The Guardia Civil arrested a 39-year-old man in La Rioja for having captured a minor with whom he had first contacted on social networks and then had incited her to leave the house to meet him and have sexual intercourse. After his arrest, he will face crimes of sexual assault, corruption of minors, illegal detention, causing a minor to leave the home and disobedience to law enforcement. Furthermore, this person is also accused of an alleged sexual assault on another minor under 15 years of age, as was clarified in the investigation.

The origin of this case lies in a complaint presented to the Guardia Civil for the disappearance of a minor in a locality in Rioja. The officers analyzed several conversations taken from the victim’s cell phone and found messages of sexual content that a man had sent her after contacting her through social networks. This content includes videos of violent sexual content and domination.

From this moment the operation began to identify the young woman and the suspect. The investigation made it possible to discover that the man, registered in Granada, also had a judicial charge in force, issued by the Investigative Court number 4 of Terrassa, for an alleged sexual assault on another minor under the age of 15.

The Guardia Civil contacted this man by telephone, who admitted to being with the missing minor, but refused to report his discovery and to collaborate with the agents. He was later finally arrested and the victim handed over to his family. The search of the place where the prisoner was located allowed the discovery of numerous objects of a sexual nature.

The Guardia Civil warns that these types of people use social networks to contact young people and adolescents, gain their trust and subsequently manipulate them to send them pornographic material. All this with the ultimate goal of making an appointment to have sexual intercourse with the victims.

Among the main recommendations to avoid this type of situation, the Guardia Civil advises maintaining “open and fluid communication” with children on the Internet and the dangers involved in communicating with strangers through social networks. Furthermore, it invites you to periodically monitor and review digital activity and raise awareness of the importance of protecting personal data. If risky situations are detected, it is necessary to preserve the evidence and contact the competent authorities.
