The request for footage from content creator Adriano Zendejas, better known as Master Shifu, generated chaos this Sunday near the Monument to the Revolution in Mexico City. The call resulted in five young people being hit by a car amidst a crowd blocking several streets. According to the capital’s authorities, the injured suffered only minor injuries due to rubbing with the pavement after the impact. The actor’s goal was to go with his followers from the Renacimiento neighborhood, in the municipality of Cuauhtémoc, to the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, in the east of the city, where the second day of the Flow urban music festival was taking place. According to the version of the capital’s security authorities, master Shifu invited his followers to give away caps. This announcement caused the closure of several streets and avenues. The call went out of control when Mexican reggaeton artist Armando Toledo, known as El Bogueto, arrived at the Monument to the Revolution, causing those present to move and destroy several stalls in an attempt to get closer to the artist.
Hours later, El Bogueto and Maestro Shifu took part in a segment of the presentation of the Colombian singer J Balvin, one of the artists who led the bill this Sunday of the renowned urban music festival.
Due to the disorder, a group of participants began vandalizing a car that was trying to pass through the crowd. The driver attempted to escape into the crowd and hit five young people. Elements of the Secretariat for Citizen Security (SSC) of the capital requested the help of paramedics, who announced that those affected only suffered blows and scratches. The three young people who were on board the vehicle, aged 15, 18 and 21, were arrested and handed over to the Public Prosecutor in the mayor’s office of Cuauhtémoc.
The SSC announced that a large number of participants were arrested for not wearing helmets while riding motorcycles, for riding on the sidewalk and for performing maneuvers that put passersby at risk. According to the security agency report, at least 98 motorcycles and one vehicle on board influencerwere confiscated.
“I will accept the consequences. I didn’t think, I repeat, that this would happen. This is the first time I’ve done this in my entire life. I didn’t think so many people would come. I can only thank all the people who went. I would have liked to bring 10,000 caps for everyone who went. I saw so many people and it saddened me to open my suitcase with 150 caps,” Master Shifu said in a video via his account on the social network TikTok.
Neither the head of the government of Mexico City nor the mayor of Cuauhtémoc have specified whether legal action will be brought against the influencer, or the singer, for the disorder caused during the call.
