A victory for Ayuso and Miguel Ángel Rodríguez with a hoax in the middle | Madrid News

Isabel Díaz Ayuso and Miguel Ángel Rodríguez achieved a victory this Thursday with the conviction of the Attorney General, accused of having leaked the email in which the lawyer of the boyfriend of the president of Madrid acknowledged two tax crimes. That was proof that Alberto González Amador took on his guilt in order to reach a deal that would reduce his sentence. The president’s team prefers not to comment for now: “We will study the sentence and we will say something at the moment.”

Ayuso, for obvious reasons, and Rodríguez, the most powerful PP councilor in Madrid, are two of the main protagonists of this case which brought an attorney general to the bench for the first time in history, in this case Álvaro García Ortiz. Rodríguez maneuvered with part of the press to make it clear that it was the Prosecutor’s Office that proposed a deal, and not the other way around. According to him, that agreement was withdrawn “by someone from above”, who was directly aiming at the government of Pedro Sánchez. The counselor had to admit in the trial, where he testified, that this information was not true, but rather his interpretation.

Ayuso tried to turn the trial of the attorney general into a sort of exoneration for González Amador, who was also tried in a Madrid court for his tax crimes, which exceeded 300,000 euros. The president claims that her partner, Alberto González Amador, and herself are being persecuted by the central government.
