Advice from Grandpa: Trump’s granddaughter makes her debut as a professional golfer – and becomes her last

Donald Trump’s granddaughter made her professional golf debut at the age of 18. He ended up in last place and still expressed the advice his grandfather gave him.

Kai Trump, the 18-year-old grandson of US President Donald Trump, suffered a disappointment in his high-profile debut as a professional golfer. The teenager finished last on the first day of “The Annika” women’s golf tournament. An 83-shot finish at Pelican Golf Club in Florida saw the daughter of Trump’s son, Donald Jr., place 108th out of 108 entrants.

In a flight with Olivia Cowan of Germany, Kai Trump needed four more strokes than Benedetta Moresco of Italy, who was ahead of her, and 19 strokes more than leader Haeran Ryu of South Korea. “I was definitely more nervous than expected,” said Kai Trump, who was allowed to start on the LPGA Tour for the first time thanks to a sponsor invitation and is in her senior year of high school. “I think I hit a lot of good shots. But a lot of them ended up in the wrong place.”

The tournament is worth $3.25 million. Kai Trump made two double bogeys (two strokes over par) and nine bogeys (one stroke over par). “I’m nervous all the time, there’s no doubt about it,” he said. “I still think I did pretty well on my first participation as the youngest player on the field.”

Besides his grandfather and golf hobbyist Donald Trump, who was not present in person, he has his most famous sponsor, Tiger Woods. The golf superstar has won 15 major titles and has been in a relationship with Vanessa Trump, Kai Trump’s mother, since March.

“My grandfather basically told me to go out and have fun”

Kai Trump will join the University of Miami golf team in the fall. In September he and his grandfather attended the Ryder, which America lost to Europe. The most important advice he gave him for his professional debut: “My grandfather basically told me to go out and have fun,” Kai Trump said.

What would he say about last place? Kai Trump laughed: “Don’t panic. To me he’s just an ordinary grandfather. He’s busy at the moment and is ruling the world.”
