The state provides the money. Because: Kalkberghöhen is considered the largest bat wintering place in Germany.

Günther praised Madsen: “In his inimitable way, he managed to do a lot for the protection of bats and at the same time ensured that the most important infrastructure projects in Schleswig-Holstein were realized.”
Federal Transport Minister Patrick Schnieder (57, CDU) welcomed the agreement and described the project as one of the most important road projects in Germany. As soon as the final building code is in place, the federal government will immediately take care of financing it.
