“Only a two-state solution will allow the Israeli and Palestinian people (…) to live in peace and security.” Emmanuel Macron announced the formation of a “joint committee for the consolidation of the State of Palestine”and announced new humanitarian aid from France for the Palestinian territories hit by Israeli attacks, following a meeting with the President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, at the Elysée on Tuesday 11 November.

Emmanuel Macron called “establishment of a Palestinian technical committee” to facilitate “the rapid return of the Palestinian Authority to Gaza and the removal of Hamas from any role in governance in the enclave”. The French head of state believes that “priority is given to holding free, transparent and democratic presidential and general elections throughout the Palestinian Territories, including in East Jerusalem”.
According to Emmanuel Macron, Mahmoud Abbas is committed to ensuring that happens “one year after the transition to the second phase of the ceasefire” and what “actor who does not renounce violence” unable to take part.
