The National Assembly may be more fragmented than ever, but sometimes they know how to find consensus. On the night of Friday 21 November to Saturday 22 November, deputies almost unanimously rejected the first part of the Finance Bill (PLF) 2026, on revenue. In a way that has never happened before in V’s historye Republican, the budget copy received only one positive vote compared to 404 negative votes (and 84 abstentions). All left, right and far-right groups rejected the text, while MoDem and the majority of Renaissance members abstained.
As a result of this decision, the DPR will not study the second part of the budget relating to spending. The government’s initial text will be returned to the Senate without taking into account more than 125 hours of work by deputies, leaving a bitter taste for elected officials without causing undue concern.
