In commemoration of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women UN Women Italy and ANSA announce the theme song a agreement aimed at promoting cultural, editorial and training initiatives in the field of gender equality, women’s economic empowerment and the fight against violence against women.
This agreement was reached after positive results from the assessment carried out by the risk management function UN Women at ANSA. “To bridge the gender gap, fight violence and spread a culture of inclusion, a combined effort and collaboration with ANSA is needed in this direction. We are very happy with this agreement. Having one of the most authoritative newspapers on the Italian publishing scene on our side will help us raise our voices and the voices of all women to the rest of the world”, she commented. UN Women Italy president Darya Majidi.
Many projects are in progress. The parties have sought to introduce joint initiatives with the aim of providing visibility and resonance with the mission and programs of UN Women Italy: from the UNiTE campaign against violence against women and girls to the “HeforShe” movement to the promotion of the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) for a fair and inclusive work environment. There will be no shortage of training initiatives aimed specifically at male and female journalists to spread good practices and non-discriminatory use of language.
…“Gender equality is one of the fundamental values of our corporate culture and is an integral part of the ANSA Code of Ethics – underlines ANSA CEO Stefano De Alessandri – Collaboration with UN Women confirms the Agency’s social responsibility to build and spread a culture that is free from prejudice, inclusive and respectful of gender diversity.”
“Fundamental theme – commented ANSA Director Luigi Contu – which is our years-long commitment to ensuring accurate and truthful information, based on respect for others, a topic about which there is never enough update and awareness. We
responsibilities in this area are increasing as ANSA’s strong presence in the social world grows.”
