Air raid on the capital
Israel attacks Hezbollah leader in Beirut – five people killed
Despite a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah, another deadly attack occurred in Beirut. According to official Israeli information, the targets were senior members of the Lebanese militia.
According to Lebanese sources, at least five people were killed in Israeli attacks on senior Hezbollah leaders in the Lebanese capital, Beirut. According to Hezbollah circles, 25 people were also injured in the attack on an apartment in the suburb of Haret Hreik. It was the first Israeli attack in the Beirut area in recent months.
Lebanese news agency NNA reported that the attack also caused significant damage to surrounding buildings and cars on the road.
Attack on Hezbollah’s “chief of general staff.”
Israeli media reported that the target of the attack was Hezbollah leader Haitham Ali Tabatabai. They are “number two” in the Hezbollah militia. In 2018, America offered a reward of five million dollars for his capture.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said soldiers had “attacked Hezbollah’s chief of staff, who led the creation and rearming of the terrorist organization.” Netanyahu ordered the attack in accordance with the recommendations of Defense Minister Israel Katz and military chief Ejal Zamir.
Defense Minister Katz said Israel would continue to act with determination “to prevent any threat to the population of the north and the State of Israel.” Katz threatened: “Anyone who raises his hand against Israel will have his hand cut off.” Returning to the reality before the Hamas massacre on October 7, 2023 is not allowed.
Israel and Iran-backed militias agreed to a ceasefire in November 2024 after more than a year of exchanging fire. However, the Israeli military repeatedly attacked targets in Lebanon. Both parties accused each other of violating the agreement.
Repeated attacks also occurred in Beirut
In September last year, the Israeli Air Force killed Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. The attack also occurred in Haret Hreik, a suburb of Beirut.
In January 2024, the second most senior overseas leader of the Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas, Saleh al-Aruri, was killed in an explosion in Beirut. Hezbollah blamed Israel for the death of the deputy head of Hamas’ political bureau.
