You don’t have to go to the ends of the earth to find something to tell. A close, or even very close, environment may be enough. In the world of comics, Etienne Davodeau has been a textbook case for twenty years. In the Bad people (Delcourt, 2005), the author retraces the journey of his parents, working class union activists and Catholic Mauge. In the The stupid one (Futuropolis, 2011), featuring his neighbor and friend Richard Leroy, a grape farmer in Layon.
With its new delivery, Where are you going? (Futuropolis, 160 pages, 24 euros), Davodeau broke his record by a landslide: the designer did not need, most of the time, to cross the threshold of his house. The main character is none other than his wife, Françoise Roy, who supports people with Alzheimer’s disease.
