A 22-year-old boy died this afternoon, Sunday 16 November, in a dramatic accident that occurred on state road 73, near Pieve al Toppo, a hamlet of Civitella in Val di Chiana, in the province of Arezzo. The victim, who lives in Arezzo and is from Moldova, was on his way to the capital when at around 16.42, he lost control of his car. The vehicle left the road and hit two pine trees on the side of the road hard.
The impact was terrible and nothing could be done about the young man: he died instantly. Ambulance 118 from ASL Tuscany Southeast, BLSD White Cross, firefighters and city police responded to the scene within minutes. Despite resuscitation efforts, all efforts proved futile. His body was later recovered by the White Cross and transferred to the morgue of the San Donato hospital in Arezzo. The city police have started an investigation to find out the exact cause of the accident.
