A surprise visit from state services took place on Sunday, November 23 morning at the Héloïse market in Argenteuil. In the presence of the prefect of Val-d’Oise, agents from the Department’s Directorate of Population Protection (DDPP 95) and the national police inspected several business premises and kiosks. Control objectives: to ensure product conformity and trader status.

Following the inspection, two administrative closures were immediately announced for the “Chez Aïcha” and “O’Galette” stands. Inspectors also destroyed 250 kg of food deemed unfit for consumption due to inappropriate storage temperatures. Two official notices were given to the operators concerned.

One ton of food will be destroyed by 2024

On the non-food side, 150 products were seized: banned insecticides, items without labels or containing drug claims. At the same time, an additional 300 products were withdrawn from sale due to inappropriate labeling.

At the administrative level, the agent made two reports for not displaying prices, as well as one criminal report for inappropriate sales denominations. In total, six warnings were also issued for multiple non-compliances.

The state agent’s visit caused a stir a year ago. In October 2024, operations in the same market resulted in the destruction of more than a ton of non-compliant food. Four official notices were issued, 307 cosmetic products were recalled due to inappropriate labeling, and around a hundred products presented as medicines were also confiscated.
