A teenager was bitten and injured by a dog at Mannheim Central Station. The dog’s 29-year-old owner was said to have let the animal off-leash in a train station underpass on Monday evening, federal police said. The dog chased two passers-by and bit the 14-year-old’s calf several times until he fell.
The owner then separated the animal from the boy, threatened two railway employees with the dog and ran away. Police searched for the man, who was traveling on an e-scooter, and arrested him a short time later on a federal highway. Since his scooter had no insurance, he also reportedly violated mandatory insurance laws.
The 14 year old teenager was rushed to hospital. The dog was temporarily taken to an animal shelter. Owners can expect, among other things, criminal prosecution for great bodily injury.
