Shortly before the start of the trial for the attack on the Magdeburg Christmas market, the defendant was taken by helicopter to the state capital of Saxony-Anhalt. He ended up at a police compound not far from a specially constructed temporary courthouse.
According to a Justice Ministry spokesperson, 51-year-old Taleb al-Abdulmohsen has been detained in the Saxony-Anhalt penitentiary system for several days. He was previously detained in Berlin.
After landing, the defendant from Saudi Arabia is planned to be taken to the trial location in a convoy of cars. Shortly before Christmas 2024, he drove a rental car through a Christmas market, killing six people and injuring more than 300 others.
