Olympique de Marseille plays its future in the Champions League, Tuesday 25 November, against Newcastle (9pm). The Marseille club only collected three points from its first four matches in Europe. Halfway through the race, OM was almost eliminated and had to bounce back, at the Vélodrome, against the English club, who had won three games in the competition and, before this 5th day, were in the Top 8.

• Remain in contention for the playoffs. Before this fifth day, the Marseillais team was ranked first in elimination (25th place). If there are four games remaining and thus 12 potential points to be taken, the situation will become urgent if another setback occurs.

• Marseille still suffered two painful defeats at the end of the match. After letting the game start well against Sporting (1-2), Roberto de Zerbi’s players were defeated at home by Atalanta (0-1), in a controversial scenario.

• Newcastle impressed in C1. If life in the Premier League is not bright for the Magpies, who are stuck in the second half of the table, they are currently in the Top 8 of the league phase and are therefore close to progressing to the last 16. After defeat at Barcelona (1-3), Newcastle achieved three wins without conceding a goal against Union Saint-Gilloise (4-0), Benfica (3-0) and Athletic Bilbao (2-0).
