Naughty bunny is the absolute protagonist of the 26th edition Latin Grammy Awards held last night in Las Vegas, winning the most prestigious award, album of the year for ‘Debí Tirar Más Fotos’. For the Puerto Rican rapper and singer, it was his first win in the general category, a recognition that sealed the global success of his latest work.
Nominated in 12 categoriesEvil Rabbit took home some of the biggest awards. In addition to Album of the Year, ‘Debí Tirar Más Fotos’ won Best Urban Music Album. The song ‘DtMF’ won the award for best urban/urban fusion performance and best urban song, while ‘Voy A Llevarte Pa PR’ won the award for best reggaeton performance. On stage at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, the artist recalled his pride in representing his homeland: “There are many ways to be proud and defend our homeland, but we chose the music,” he said, thanking the album’s collaborators, including Chuwi, with whom he performed ‘Weltita’ that night.
Bad Bunny’s victory came at the end of the match a ceremony that also saw the triumph of other big names. Karol G won Song of the Year with ‘Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido’, while Alejandro Sanz won Album of the Year with ‘Palmeras En El Jardín’. Bad Bunny was at risk of being knocked out of the main category, but winning the final award of the night, album of the year, sealed his win.
Between the other protagonist of the eveningCa7riel & Paco Amoroso dominated the pop and alternative categories: best pop song with ‘El Día Del Amigo’, best alternative music album with ‘Papota’, best alternative song with ‘#Tetas’, best short music video again with ‘#Tetas’ and best long music video with ‘Papota’. To complete the list of winners, Paloma Morphy was awarded best new artist, confirming the vitality and diversity of the Latin American music scene.
