Bundesliga basketball players Niners Chemnitz celebrated their first away win in the Eurocup after a long and convincing performance and a brief shake-up. Coach Rodrigo Pastore’s side defeated Italian Cup winners Dolomiti Energia Trento with 105:94 (53:37) and moved up to seventh in the Group B table with their third win overall. With 33 points, Kevin Yebo was the Niners’ best pitcher.
After a disjointed opening phase, the hosts initially gained the advantage with their consistent drives to the basket and took a 20:15 lead just before the end of the first quarter. Chemnitz However, they responded with a score of 10-0 bringing the score to 25:20. The Saxons dominated until halftime with excellent ball movement and a strong hit rate from the three-point line (18/9).
After a turnover, the Niners extended their lead to 61:39 (22nd minute), but then got sloppy defensively. The hosts didn’t give up, saving numerous second chances and reducing the lead to 92:97 with 65 seconds remaining. However, Yebo’s outstanding performance then ended the shock of the Chemnitz team.
