Zero points for PSG. After a season without the Champions League, the capital club returned to competition with difficulty. The Parisiennes lost the fourth match of the league phase, Thursday 20 November, against Bayern Munich (1-3), in front of around 13,000 people at the Parc des Princes. They are the only team not to score a point in four matches and are logically last in the standings.
But against Bayern Munich, the Parisiennes have hope. They were the first to score from their first attack into the opponent’s area, thanks to Sakina Karchaoui (16). However, this hope only lasted for a moment, less than a minute, before Bayern Munich gave their commitment after this goal, and immediately equalized thanks to Linda Dallmann (17).
Dominant, the Bavarians then logically went ahead on score, thanks to Momoko Tanikawa who easily wiped out Elisa De Almeida with a trick shot, before deceiving Mary Earps (35). Germany then had little danger, except for a double chance in the 69th minute, through a “crazy” from Vitoria Yaya and Elisa De Almeida’s header from a corner, but to no avail.
Defensively, after the first warning through Pernille Harder (73) hitting the crossbar, Parisiennes finally conceded a late break goal, scored by Jovana Damnjanovic (89). Followed by a Bavarian team that was too strong for him, PSG lost again, after previously being eliminated by Wolfsburg (4-0) and being dominated by Real Madrid (2-1) and Manchester United (2-1).
There are only two opportunities left for PSG to pick up points in this Champions League league phase, against Louvain at home and against Benfica on the road. However, according to a statistical model that estimates it will take at least six or seven points to be able to compete in the quarter-final play-off round, PSG must win these two matches, with no guarantee of being able to see the rest of the competition.
