Belgium will buy “kamikaze drones” to shoot down suspicious drones, after recent sightings of them around airports

Belgium will buy “kamikaze drones” from a Latvian company to shoot down unidentified drones, after a series of suspicious sightings around the country’s airports since October. The government described the flight of the unidentified drone as an act of sabotage orchestrated by Russia, although it admitted it had no evidence to prove this link, and announced a €50 million plan to counter it. “Kamikaze drones” are drones that explode when they reach their target, and have been used on a large scale in the war between Russia and Ukraine, which has recently led to many systems being developed for their production.
