A surprise for a cattle farmer in southern Hesse: criminals have invaded his pasture in the Biblis district and attacked one of his Galloway cows. According to the police, they immediately slaughtered the animal. They left feathers and offal in the pasture – so they took it all with them.
Given the size of the herd and the efforts involved, police believe there must be several perpetrators. They must also use appropriate vehicles to transport the carcasses. Unknown people also took electric fences and solar panels, he said.
The livestock pasture was already targeted by criminals in December 2024. According to police, a cow was killed in the pasture, two calves were stolen and other animals were injured.
Police are now investigating alleged violations of the Animal Welfare Act and theft. He is also looking for possible witnesses. The crimes were committed between Friday afternoon and Saturday afternoon.
