Binaghi: “Sinner said he wasn’t needed because we had a squadron. He was right”

An absolute joy Angelo Binaghi after a third consecutive win in Davis, the fourth in Italian history. After Cobolli’s decisive success over Munar, president Federtennis, interviewed live on Rai1, immediately spoke about the big absence, Jannik Sinner, protagonist in 2023 and 2024, not in Bologna: “Sinner was right. He said that he was not needed because we have a squadron. And it happened. We are a big family. They never give up”, he concluded also underlining the presence in Bologna of the girls of the women’s team that won the Billie Jean King Cup.

Volandri: “More tears for this one than the others”

“Amazing, I probably shed more tears over this one than the others. This one was absolutely incredible, just like the others but different and I’m so proud and so proud of this incredible group. Those who were physically here and those who weren’t there made themselves feel, as if they were there. I can only thank them for what they did.” Filippo Volandri spoke to Supertennis after the win against Spain in the final and spoke about his emotions as an uncapped captain. “Winning it away was amazing, but winning it at home was amazing. Now we have to find something. We have a young team, we still want to have fun. But today we enjoyed it”, added Volandri. “It’s unimaginable for me that I should be grateful to those who put their trust in me. I’m living the dream, because I always make myself available to the team and the players reciprocate me like this.”
