Two young men have escaped from the juvenile correctional center in Bologna where they were being held. From what we understand, one is a Moldovan citizen and the other is a Tunisian national. This was stated by Francesco Borrelli, deputy regional secretary of Sappe.
“We can no longer bear the pursuit of people who continue to escape from penitentiaries, which has now become a filter, from a security point of view,” said Giovanni Battista Durante, deputy secretary general of Sappe, and Francesco Campobasso, national secretary. “We ask to create a general directorate in the Department of Penitentiary Administration, also responsible for juvenile justice, that handles the security of all prisons in Italy.”
The two inmates, who were minors, escaped in the afternoon. According to a Uilpa Correctional Police report, it appears they used some scaffolding for ongoing work at the adjacent Juvenile Court to climb over the yard they were in. Another escape using a similar method was recorded on October 26, less than a month ago.
