Bridge work
The Köhlbrand Bridge will be closed again over the weekend
Due to road works to the Köhlbrand Bridge in Hamburg, important port connections will be closed again over the weekend. There’s good news for the A7.
The Köhlbrand Bridge at the Port of Hamburg will be closed again over the weekend due to road works under the A7. Starting next Friday at 10 p.m. until Monday at 5 am, important port connections will be inaccessible, as announced by Federal Autobahn GmbH. The A7 is not closed during this time.
The reason for the work under the motorway bridge is the expansion of the A7 lane from six to eight lanes. For this purpose, work is also being carried out on the Köhlbrand Bridge under the motorway. Final renovation work in the area is planned for the weekend. Additionally, the temporary bypass will be removed and the original route under the A7 will be restored. This required extensive asphalt work to construct the road, he said.
Therefore, access via Finkenwerder Straße to the Köhlbrand Bridge is only possible in one lane for three hours on Friday morning.
The detour is signposted. Traffic will be diverted via Finkenwerder Straße, Waltershofer Straße, Fürstenmoordamm, Kattwykdamm, Moorburger Hauptdeich, Rethedamm and Roßdamm.
Landmarks and important traffic routes
The Köhlbrand Bridge, like the Michel, the city hall, and the Elbphilharmonie, a Hamburg landmark, is considered one of the most important traffic arteries in the harbor. This 135 meter high structure is a link between the port and the A1 and A7 motorways and is mainly used by trucks.
