First a public bus hit several cars – then crashed into the wall of a house. The fire department came out with a large contingent.

A public bus collided with three cars in Oberhausen on Wednesday evening and then crashed into the wall of a house. Seven people were injured in the accident, including the bus driver. Four injured people had to be taken to hospital for further examination.

WDR wrote that when the accident occurred there were around 25 passengers on the articulated bus. Police did not rule out an internal medical emergency involving the bus driver as a possible cause of the crash. The investigation into the exact cause is still ongoing.

The magnitude of the impact caused quite serious damage to the walls of the house. For safety reasons, the fire department cleared the building and called in a structural engineer to assess it. After an assessment, everything was declared safe: the apartment building was not in danger of collapsing and remained habitable.

Images from the crash site show several stones broken from the wall of the house next to the entrance. Firefighters temporarily propped up the doorway with metal rods.

The fire brigade was deployed with many troops. A police spokesman described the impact of the crash as minor. The articulated bus’s windshield and front section were completely destroyed.
