Buttarelli (Federdistributione)”The budget law is an opportunity to relaunch internal demand”

“The budget law, which is currently being discussed, is an opportunity to direct resources towards structural interventions, capable of supporting families and businesses, as well as revitalizing internal needs.” That was Carlo Alberto Buttarelli, president of Federdistributione, at the modern distribution 2025 forum in Milan.

“As we have underlined in meetings with the Government, we welcome the Executive’s commitment to supporting family incomes and attention to the issue of birth rates,” he underlined. “A real response to demographic decline is not just a social problem, but is a necessity to guarantee Italy’s future and the stability of domestic demand,” he continued.

“We also call for sharper measures, especially those relating to the middle class. At the fiscal level – continued Buttarelli – we welcome the Government’s decision to postpone the Sugar tax and Plastic tax until January 2027, and extend the tax credit for investments in Tunggal Zes for a period of three years”.

“We have called for a review of the Southern Contribution Relief that ensures certainty of its implementation, without penalizing those who invest and create stable jobs in the most vulnerable regions of the country”, he underlined.

“From the family side – he continued – strengthening the purchasing power of the middle class through remodulating Irpef interest rates and strengthening corporate welfare is a positive thing.” However, he explained, these measures must be sustainable and must be accompanied by further tax relief tools.” Buttarelli concluded: “Structural interventions on taxes and fees are necessary, in the interests of workers and businesses.”

“It is very important to strengthen the tools for growth and competitiveness of the business world. The recovery of Transition Plan 5.0 resources – he underlined – must be accompanied by more effective and stable measures over time, allowing the planning of real investments in innovation and digitalization.”

“Therefore, the reformulation of the Plan is a good thing, but we urge that investments in our sector be included more broadly and on a broader temporal perspective, so that companies can plan interventions in a more structural way”, he concluded.
