Calenda and reason for tattoos for Ukraine: “Strong ties”

“My attitude towards Ukraine is also born of affection. Ukrainians are a wonderful people, with whom I have strong ties. My tattoo is a sign of closeness to Ukraine”. As Carlo Calendaon Sky Agenda returns to tryzub, the trident national symbol of Ukraine which often appeared on his army uniform and was tattooed by the leader of the Action on his wrist.

“There are positions in life – he continued – that are held because of fundamentals. And the Meloni government has many doubts regarding Kiev”.

Russian criticism and Calenda’s response

In recent days, the Russian Embassy in Rome criticized the Action leader for his tattoos. “But does the Italian politician Carlo Calenda understand the essence of the symbols he applied to his body?”, wrote the embassy in a post on Facebook, underlining that the “action” of the Action leader “is nothing more than a voluntary entry into the community of followers of Petlyura, Bandera, Shukhevich and other Nazis and collaborators of Ukrainian nationality, whose hands are stained with the blood of Jews, Gypsies, Hungarians, Russians, Ukrainians”.

Calenda’s response was not long in coming. “You will be defeated. Just like the Soviet Union was defeated. Freedom always triumphs over tyranny in the end. And if you are afraid of tattoos then you already know it”, read the text on X. And at the end of the tweet, the senator added the hashtag ‘Slava Ukraïni’.

Q&A with Luca Bizzarri

Among the comments on Calenda’s tattoo post, there were also comments from the Genoese comedian Luca Bizzarri which takes a long time social back and forth.

“The right and good things to do at 16 years old”, joked Bizzarri, immediately commented on by the Action leader. “Are you also a trombone now?”, Calenda’s question to which Bizzarri answered: “No, I want you to be a trombone. I want to be able to choose an adult. Instead Salvini says ‘Bro’ and you post a tattoo. And we have to choose between the two”.

“Listen Luca. You spend your days talking about blow jobs, joints and video games. Now, for me, Ukraine is an ideal fight, humane and free. And tattoos have this value. When you start acting as a censor of other people’s behavior, you are like ‘they will have friends'”, Calenda answered. “Sorry – the comedian responded -, for being unqualified and not elected, I don’t think the problem is what I’m talking about. The problem is the political class made up of teenagers who are looking for a little heart in the X by showing off their tattoos as influencers, and then they want to be credible as statesmen”.

“Luca, you are wrong. For me, Ukraine – Calenda tried to explain it again – is the most important political battle. And the tattoo symbolizes this. Your constant ‘it’s all magna magna’ has become annoying. As you know well, I spend my life making deep and detailed proposals on energy, industry, etc. so please Salvini compare it with the others. Therefore, we still love you. See you soon”.

But to the words of the politician, here is another answer: “Precisely because you made a deep and detailed proposal, you should have a close friend say ‘We are 60 years old. Maybe we will get tattoos for our grandchildren’s school friends, and if you really want, do it, but be nice, don’t post’. And instead someone (who pays) instead tells you that it is a good idea. And you call the only person who loves you for free an indifferent person. This is your drama.”

Finally, Calenda’s closing: “Okay, can we agree that we disagree? Hugs.”
