This Hollywood couple has been married for 25 years. To mark the anniversary, Catherine Zeta-Jones looks back on her time with Michael Douglas.

On November 18, 2000, actor Michael Douglas led his partner Catherine Zeta-Jones, 25 years his junior, down the aisle at New York’s legendary Plaza Hotel. Despite initial doubts due to the age difference, the two have now become one of Hollywood’s dream couples – even though their marriages don’t always end happily.

To mark the occasion, Catherine Zeta-Jones shared a series of photos on her Instagram account showing her looking back on their years together – and giving her around 6.5 million followers a personal insight into their wedding. Wedding photos were followed by photos of their first meeting in August 1998 at the Deauville Film Festival in France.

This continues with photos of holidays together and glamorous events before the gallery ends with more wedding photos. “25 years ago today I walked down the aisle. The heady scent of flowers, the candlelight, the sonorous, harmonious Welsh singing – and you, who waited for me at the end of the long aisle and looked at me in a way that only you could. I love you today as much as I did then. Thank you, my darling,” wrote the 56-year-old.

Douglas did not miss the opportunity to congratulate his wife in public. He also shared an old photo together and wrote: “Happy 25th birthday, my darling Catherine. Who would have thought? With all my love, Michael.”

Several years ago, the actor talked about the beginning of their love. “I first saw her in The Mask of Zorro and thought, Wow, who is this girl? She’s amazing!” A month later he took the opportunity to invite Catherine for a drink at the Deauville Film Festival. He immediately tried his best. “I looked at him and said, ‘I’m going to be the father of your children,’” the 81-year-old said, adding, “I thought I had really screwed him up.”

However, the two remained in touch and married two years later. They were already parents by that time: son Dylan was born in August 2000. Daughter Carys was born in spring 2003.
