Defendant Christina Block told an expert at the Hamburg regional court about the short time she spent with her children after their abduction. After arriving in Hamburg in early January 2024, there was no fear, said the 52-year-old in response to a question from a specialist in child and adolescent psychiatry. “Of course they said ma’am.” They play together, watch movies. “It was very harmonious.”
At this point, Block had not had contact with his children for two and a half years. The father, who lives in Denmark, did not take the boy and girl back to Germany as agreed after a weekend visit in the summer of 2021. The children allegedly made accusations of violence – which Block denies.
After years of legal tug-of-war over custody, the then ten-year-old boy and 13-year-old girl were kidnapped from their father’s care on New Year’s Eve 2023/24. They were taken to their mother. Block is accused of being the mastermind behind this kidnapping and maintains his innocence.
The daughter appeared to her mother as if she had been programmed
She accused her ex-husband Stephan Hensel of manipulating the children. Upon her arrival, her daughter looked like a “robot wearing a suit of armor.” At first he seemed programmed and really wanted to make accusations. It then subsided.
His son wanted to rediscover his old home with great care and curiosity. Block reported that the children had repressed many memories. “But it came back quicker than I thought.” On January 5 news broke that the children would have to return to their father in Denmark following a new court decision.
