First the win, then the press conference to complete the show. Italy won the 2025 Davis Cup and put on a show on the pitch and in the press room. After Spain’s 2-0 defeat in the final, the Azzurri appeared ‘euphoric’ in the press room and the question and answer session turned into a ‘cult’ conclusion to an unforgettable week.

Flavio Cobolli, the absolute protagonist on the pitch with a win that gave a 2-0 win, also left his mark in front of the microphone. After the “usual questions, thank you” addressed to journalists at the entrance of the room, Roman began his personal show. “There’s no one in English”, he said perhaps with some relief, but was immediately rebuffed. The first question is of course in English. The answer, after a toast in the dressing room, was exhausting.
“ao”
“I don’t remember the question”
“You will become a famous flaviè, that’s the problem, whether you realize it or not”
“I try…”
“…his words”
“NO”

The start was good (“I was a bit nervous at the start of the match…”), but teammate collaboration was lacking: Lorenzo Sonego laughed, captain Filippo Volandri fainted, everything had to be done again. Matteo Berrettini periodically tries to keep his young colleague in line (“It looks like you’re losing, come on oh…”, “You’re becoming famous…”). Cobolli tries, but the task is difficult: “I forgot the question…”.

The final blow was a question about Italy’s first win in Davis in 1976: “I wasn’t born… I watched a TV series…”. Help is too delicious for journalists: “Tell me”. “How can you tell me about that? Is this a question?” Cobolli counters in the corner. This time, Berrettini’s intervention was disastrous: “He didn’t see it…”.
