The man, who is part of an “international network” according to the Colombian Criminal Investigation Department of the Colombian National Police (Dijin), is wanted for money laundering.
“The Colombian police, in cooperation with the Colombian national package and the Colombian aerospace forces, and with the support of the French authorities, arrested a French citizen in Cali based on a red notice issued by Interpol at the request of the Lyon judicial authorities,” Dijin sur X said, noting that the man acted as a repeat offender.
According to daily El Espectador, the man arrested was named Édouard Chavanne. He allegedly carried out several financial transactions through an American company. “The operation was carried out through a network of agencies and online platforms, as well as through deposits to Spanish bank accounts in Colombia, for a total amount of around 185,000 euros,” the media said.
