Comparison between investment in fossil fuels and clean energy
Ten years ago, global investment in fossil fuels exceeded investment in green energy by more than $200 billion. In 2016, clean energy was exceeded, namely 1,262 billion energy compared to 1,228 fossil energy. According to data from the International Energy Agency (IEA), in 2025 capital flows to the energy sector are expected to increase to 3,300 billion dollars, 2% more than in 2024. Of this amount, almost 2,200 billion will be used to finance renewable energy, nuclear power, low-emission fuels, efficiency and electrification, approximately double compared to the 1,148 billion allocated to oil, natural gas and coal.
