Rafael Louzán, president of the Spanish Federation, opened the draw for the second round of the Copa del Rey. In the midst of the national team’s controversy over the call-up of Lamine Yamal, this draw took place which produced some interesting pairings. The four teams that will play the Spanish Super Cup in Arabia have not yet participated in this round: Barcelona, ​​​​Real Madrid, Atlético Madrid and Athletic. Oviedo was eliminated in the first round. Other noteworthy duels that will take place in this second round are Mirandés-Sporting, Murcia-Cádiz, Zaragoza-Burgos or Sabadell-Deportivo.

The 56 teams that have qualified for the second round of the Copa del Rey will compete between Tuesday 2 and Thursday 4 December for a place in the round of 32 of the competition, which will be played on 16 December. The round of 16 will take place in January 2025. The 28 single-leg qualifiers will always be played with the lower division teams playing at home and it is up to Ourense CF, recent winners of the Federation Cup, to be the first club to be drawn. Their rival will be Girona.

El Antoniano, from Lebrija, in the province of Seville, was the lucky one in the draw. They will play against Villarreal, the only Spanish Champions League representative present in contention. Antoniano is currently tenth in the fourth round of the Second Federation. Cieza and Portugalete, the only survivors of the Third Federation, will face Levante and Alavés respectively.
