The trial of an 83-year-old man began on Friday (09:30) at the Frankfurt regional court. According to the prosecutor’s office, he is said to have strangled his wife, who suffered from severe dementia, to death in their shared apartment in Frankfurt in September 2022.

Before committing the crime, this 86 year old man was said to have been aggressive towards his husband who looked after him. Due to his age, the German suspect was not detained. The public prosecutor’s office accused him of manslaughter. According to the jury’s current plans, a verdict against him could be announced in December.
