Crai is allied with the Supercentro group

Starting from January 1, the Supercentro group, a supermarket chain present in the South, will become part of the Crai Group, a cooperative company led by Giangiacomo Ibba. The announcement was made today at the convention «Supercentro 2026: our future. Clear vision and strategy” referred to as an alliance between two entities that share values, vision and business culture based on proximity, quality, efficiency and customer centrality. A partnership aimed at strengthening Supercentro’s position by generating new opportunities for economic development and employment in Southern Italy. The brand has a turnover in 2024, according to NielsenIq data, of more than 190 million and is widespread in Puglia, Basilicata and Calabria. Crai signs will be gradually installed at more than 120 points sales, 43 of which are owned by the company, including supermarkets, minimarkets and six Cash&Carries Last Thursday, another Wiva Cash&Carry dedicated to wholesalers was inaugurated in Nardò, in the province of Lecce.

“Entering Crai means opening up to the national system while maintaining our roots, with real benefits for the entire supply chain” stressed Michele Macripò, president of Supercentro during the convention, while Antonio Bonucci, general director, explained: “The agreement with Crai allows us to face an unprecedented phase of structural and organizational growth. We have planned investments of more than 15 million over the next three years, which will involve the modernization of points of sale, expansion of services and the creation of new jobs. This is an important challenge, which arises from a common path and the desire to continue generating value for the regions in which we operate.”

Joining Crai Group represents a dimensional and strategic leap, allowing Supercentro to expand its logistics capacity, access new economies of scale and enhance the territorial identity that has always distinguished the company. Founded in Taranto in 1996 at the desire of a group of local entrepreneurs, Supercentro is today one of the realities of food distribution in the South.

«This entry marks an important step in our growth path and consolidates our presence in Southern Italy – explains Giangiacomo Ibba, president of Crai Group -. This brings together two realities that have the same values: closeness to society, relationships with local communities, and attention to quality. An alliance that strengthens the network and renews our promise to offer shopping that is good, sustainable and authentically rooted in the region.”
