Pure speed, goals every second.
That Champions League match between Berlin Fox and Sporting CP developed into an offensive spectacle. In the end, the Berlin team won in a tense exchange of blows with a time of 38:37 (20:19) and remained unbeaten in the premier class for the seventh game in a row.
This means that all German teams remain unbeaten in all European competitions even after 26 matches.
No words: World handball player with an extraordinary shot
Füchse coach Nicolej Krickau celebrated his 39th birthday this evening. His wish before the game: “I don’t want cake or special attention, I want us to win.” And his team succeeded.
Express handball is played. Both teams increased each other’s speed. 39 goals in the first half (20:19). Both teams did nothing offensively, the goals came quicker than the goalkeepers would have liked. Parades are still in short supply.
Handball: 42 strokes! The Fox stars won a crazy competition against the Costa brothers
The game was more of a duel of goals and was called: the Costa brothers, Kiko and Martim, against the super players of the Danes of the Foxes, Mathias Gidsel and Lasse Andersson. The fight was tied 11-11 after 30 minutes. In the end, four stars from both teams closed out an incredible 42 games. Like Gidsel, Kiko Costa scored 12 goals and Martim Costa and Andersson each scored 9 goals.
Highlight of the goal show: Andersson’s blast on the half-time whistle. Dry and at a speed of 130 km/h, the Danish player was unstoppable with the ball with a shot into the right corner of the goal.
The match was tense again – like last season, when the Berlin team lost 33:35 at Sporting (then without Gidsel and Milosavljev), but won 33:32 at Berlin. This time it was tight too. No team can score more than three goals in one match. In the 37th minute, the Foxes got their first breathing room and led by four goals – 26:22.
With everything still in the tank – Füchse had been playing without their four regulars Lichtlein, Wiede, Herburger and Prantner for weeks – Berlin maintained their lead. We were still up 33:31 with 10 minutes remaining.
The fox controls everything. But then the referee was surprised.
Again, the main actors are Martim Costa and Lasse Andersson. The Czech referee gave the Berlin player a red card after colliding with Costa. So it’s called shaking again. But Gidsel finally closed things out with the 38th goal – 38:37.
The fox didn’t have time to celebrate and took a deep breath. Friday is travel day and on Saturday at 6 p.m. (DYN) the champions had to play in a league match against THW Kiel.
