D’Alema dismisses Fico’s case: “The boat? Human misery has no limits

“Say, human, intellectual, and moral suffering has its limits.” Massimo D’Alema thus dismissing the Campania region candidate boat controversy, Roberto Fico.

“Fortunately I am no longer required to participate in this kind of things here. I leave it to you”, said the former Prime Minister responding to journalists on the sidelines of the presentation of the 3-2025 issue of Italianieuropei magazine held in the Berlinguer room of the Pd group in Montecitorio, in the presence of secretary Elly Schlein, CGIL secretary Maurizio Landini, former European Commissioner for Labor Nicolas Schmit and head of the Pd Labor Party, Cecilia Guerra. Also present in the room were PD Deputy Peppe Provenzano (who is part of the magazine’s editorial committee) and Arturo Scotto, PD Organization Manager Igor Taruffi, Party Treasurer Michele Fina, and Senator Francesco Verducci.

“In the ability to get the public to understand that the core of our values is not only aligned with the needs of one party, but also with the need to provide perspective to the country, many things will play a role in the government’s challenge towards which goals. oppositionthe center-left, the broad camp now has to move,” D’Alema said. But in the primaries, he kept his distance: “I’m interested in providing ideas. I do a job, my job is not to be a political leader. I go out. I do not participate, I am not part of any party governing body. Experience tells me that I should stay away from this kind of debate”. The former PDS leader then attacked the right wing, describing it as “the power of Italian decline, a model that, if not renewed, is destined to decline, will not be able to face the challenges of changes in the world scenario, the demographic challenge”.

Forza Italia’s senatorial president responded to D’Alema with irony, Maurizio Gasparri: “Solidarity emerged among the navigators. D’Alema, former co-owner of the Ikarus, defended Fico who has not explained how he lived during the four years in which he was no longer a member of parliament and how he paid for the expensive ship”.

And finally: “D’Alema helps Fico, but Fico doesn’t help himself. The port side of this ‘gozzo,’ or rather a very expensive sailing vessel, as one of D’Alema’s co-owners says, is right on the ‘gozzo’. They don’t understand the ‘gozzo, so to speak.”
