Andreas Michelmann, President of the German Handball Association, stressed: “We continue our path for women’s sport and revitalize the ‘Hands Up for More’ movement with further actions.”

Team captain Antje Döll (37) was happy: “We feel appreciated. After daily allowances were equalized at the start of the year, this bonus rule is another strong signal. But most importantly, sporting success will be the priority in the coming weeks – we are investing everything we can to make our handball dreams come true in this tournament.”

Gallen by the team board along with Antje Döll, Xenia Smits (31), goalkeeper Kathi Filter (26) and sporting director Ingo Meckes (49). Compared with the bonuses offered at the 2021 World Cup (140,000 euros) and the 2023 World Cup (225,000 euros) as well as the 2024 European Championships (275,000 euros), the women’s national team is at a record high this year, but has not yet fully caught up with the men. There will be 475,000 euros for DHB selection at the World Cup in January. However, the higher premium for men will be fully covered by the IHF’s sponsorship and bonus services. If the woman is successful, the DHB will contribute a six-figure sum.

The DHB team kicked off the World Cup tournament on Wednesday (November 26). The first opponent of the preliminary round at the Porsche Arena Stuttgart is Iceland (6 p.m., live streaming Sporteurope.TV). In the remaining matches, the team coached by national coach Markus Gaugisch (51) will face Uruguay (November 28) and Serbia (November 30, both at 6 pm).

The first three teams in the preliminary round qualify for the main round. The DHB team will then continue at Dortmund Westfalenhalle on 2, 4 and 6 December and the quarter-finals on 9 December.
