Disputes with US President: “Always hated in Washington” – former Trump loyalist Greene announces her resignation

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene plans to resign from Congress in January. This was announced by loyal supporters of US President Donald Trump on Friday. “I will resign from my position, my last day of work will be January 5 2026,” said Taylor Greene, Friday (local time) on an online service.

Greene has been closely aligned with the Republican president since the start of her political career in 2020. However, recently, the Republican and Trump traded blows in public. The Georgia congressman criticized Trump’s foreign policy and his reluctance to release further documents related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Trump responded by supporting internal party challengers who opposed him, calling him a “traitor” and “crazy.”

In his video, he emphasized his longstanding loyalty to Trump, except for a few issues, and said it would be “unfair and wrong” for Trump to attack him for disagreeing. “Loyalty must go both ways and we must be able to vote according to our conscience and represent the interests of our constituents,” he said.

Greene served as chair of Trump’s MAGA (“Make America Great Again”) movement and quickly became a polarizing figure in the Capitol for her views. When he espoused the QAnon conspiracy theory and appeared with far-right supporters of the white supremacist movement, he was rejected by party leaders. But Trump praised him and called him a “true WINNER!” appointed.
