Donald Trump announced on Wednesday, November 26, that South Africa will not be invited to next year’s G20 summit in Miami, and this is another step in his diplomatic attack on the country.
“South Africa has shown the world that it is not a country worthy of membership in any case”the American president wrote on his Truth Social network, repeating his accusations of the alleged deadly abuse of white South African farmers.
Donald Trump avoided the G20 summit which was recently held in Johannesburg and took place without official American participation. South Africa’s President, Cyril Ramaphosa, refused to officially hand over leadership of the G20 to the next host country, the United States, as is usually the case.
The South African president is trapped by Trump
The South African government has been targeted by the American president since his return to the White House, especially over his allegations “genocide” Afrikaner, descendants of the first European settlers.
In May, at the White House, Donald Trump ambushed Cyril Ramaphosa by showing him an error-ridden video that was supposed to prove his allegations, but was denied by South Africa.
The G20 summit, a format that brings together twenty countries with the world’s largest economies, will be held in December 2026 at a golf resort owned by the American presidential family, Trump National Doral Miami, Florida, in the south of the United States.
