This is the day of Peppe Vessicchio’s funeral, which will be held privately at 15.00 in the church of Santi Angeli Custodi on Piazza Sempione in Rome. The last greetings were gathered in the affection of his loved ones but in recent days many people have dedicated tributes or simple thoughts to him. Precisely to represent how much the conductor managed to enter the hearts of many people and more specifically become part of Italian culture in general.
Thank-you note
Before the funeral service, Alessia, Peppe Vessicchio’s daughter, wanted to talk to La Volta Buona about how her family is currently living.
He especially wanted to thank them for the affection that surrounded them: «I was very upset, I agreed to say a few words because I think saying thank you is the right thing. They were all shocked and in disbelief as we were. You can see that they feel genuine love for him, in these two days they said the same things I heard in my life.”
Vessicchio’s Teachings
“He always taught us to be polite and kind.” Alessia told La Volta Buona one of the teachings she received from her father Peppe via microphone: «He never refused a word to anyone. He did not have the peace in me that he had, on behalf of my family, it is only right that we thank him for his love.”
Vessicchio’s last days
Alessia recounts the last days that Peppe Vessicchio lived, when he was already hospitalized with pneumonia: «The night before he died he told me “don’t worry, I’ll go home”. I can’t say I’m lucky because I have it, I can’t say it’s a cliche. I was devastated and we were completely unprepared. You won’t die at this age when you were fine until now.”
