The Meloni-Schlein Agreement was put to the test in the Assembly. Meanwhile, rumors regarding election law contacts are getting crazier The Minister for Democracy and the Prime Minister have established a ‘pivot’ that has proven solid on sensitive topics such as women’s advocacy.

Last week the DPR approved the PDL to amend the Criminal Code regarding sexual violence: without consent, it is a crime. “We have shown that on these fundamental issues, common ground can be found between the majority and the opposition to help the country take a step forward,” the Democratic Party leader wrote on social media, posting a photo of himself with Meloni. Before the vote in Montecitorio, a telephone call between the two leaders approved the text which was then unanimously accepted.

The Democratic Party was very interested in this provision and the hard work in particular of the PD parliamentarians proved decisive for the bipartisan agreement, which was reached after the indication of two rapporteurs: Varchi (Fdi) and De Biase (Pd). But Feelings between the prime minister and the secretary of the DPR also predicted the second round, again in the area of women’s advocacy. And this time what is at the center of the discussion is the government’s move: the bill introducing the crime of femicide, which is currently being discussed in the DPR.

It’s about executive Giorgia Meloni’s go-to textsigned by ministers Nordio, Piantedosi, Roccella and Casellati. The majority had requested, and obtained, an urgent statement from Montecitorio. The Senate has approved it and now awaits a final vote.

The Democratic Party has stated that they will not propose amendments and will vote on the bill, which is certainly not one of the Democratic Party’s ‘hits’ in the early legislative term. This occurred before the agreement between Giorgia Meloni and Elly Schlein, which, among other things, was passed through a bipartisan vote on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women set for November 25.
