Emergency: Fire in the Kreuzberg high-rise – rubbish burning in the basement

A fire in a 19-story building in Berlin-Kreuzberg led to a massive firefighting operation and apartments filled with smoke. No one was hurt. Several residents of the house on Lindenstrasse called the emergency number on Saturday afternoon because of smoke in their kitchen, the fire brigade announced. Emergency services found burning rubbish in an area of ​​one square meter in the basement and extinguished the fire. Smoke is channeled into the kitchen via a common extractor hood shaft. It was said that from the 9th floor onwards there was heavy smoke in the apartment. It has been ventilated. A total of 30 firefighters were on duty for two hours and 135 apartments had to be checked.
