Epstein Files: Trump withdraws support for Rep. Greene

For years, Representative Greene was one of Trump’s loudest supporters. His conspiracy story was not a problem for him. But now the two have broken up with each other – because of the Epstein files.

US President Donald Trump has withdrawn the support of Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene. His prominent longtime supporters criticized his handling of the affair surrounding convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

In a post on the Truth Social platform, Trump demonstratively dissociated himself from “crazy” members of Congress who, “despite my record-breaking success for our country,” simply complained: “I can’t answer the calls of a raving lunatic every day,” Trump wrote.

Other conservatives are now “fed up with him and his antics.” If there is a suitable candidate who can defeat Greene in the Georgia state primary, he will support him with all his might.

Greene quickly rose to national prominence after entering Parliament in 2021. For years she has been a staunch supporter of Trump – for example on abortion and gun rights as well as immigration policy, where she has repeatedly made violent and racist statements.

Of course confrontation instead of loyal followers

But in the end, he took a confrontational path with the president and, along with a small group of Republicans, demanded the complete publication of all the Epstein case files. Democrats in Congress are also demanding this. The House of Representatives is scheduled to vote next week.

Before his death in 2019, multimillionaire Epstein, well-connected in influential circles, ran an abuse ring that victimized dozens of young women — Trump also spent time with him, as several party videos show.

In an interview, Greene described Trump’s refusal to fulfill his campaign promises and release all of Epstein’s files as a “serious error of judgment.” He told CBS he couldn’t understand her behavior.

Greene: Trump wants to “set an example”

After Trump’s criticism, Greene accused him on online platform X of lying. He didn’t try to call her, but the two of them exchanged text messages about the Epstein case on the same day. “Apparently it finished him off.”

Trump clearly wanted to “make an example for himself to dissuade other Republicans” from voting to release the Epstein files next week, Greene wrote. It’s amazing how hard he fought to prevent the Epstein documents from being made public.

If Democrats unite in support of disclosing the documents, it would only take the votes of a handful of Republicans to approve the proposal.

Conspiracy story and agitation

Greene is polarizing like no one else in the US Congress. He considers himself a “Christian nationalist” and has a large following on social media. Greene has spread conspiracy stories and repeatedly attracted attention with her hate speech against minority groups. Lawmakers said the government manipulated the weather and earthquakes as a reminder for people to apologize for their sins.

Greene also supported Trump’s repeatedly debunked claims that he was cheated out of his 2020 presidential election victory using illicit means. When Republicans had to vacate the White House to replace Democrat Joe Biden the following year, he continued to support him and said: “The party belongs to him. It belongs to no one else.”
