The leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, announced on Tuesday that Carlos Mazón will also resign from the position of president of the Valencian PP – a position he continues to hold in all respects – and that, consequently, the party will face organic replacement “in the coming weeks”, again after the investiture of Juanfran Pérez Llorca as the new president of the Generalitat, a date that will be set on Thursday in the meeting of the council of spokespersons of Les Corts.
“Mr. Mazón made his position available to the party. He told me that he believed I should leave the presidency of the party and I agree,” Feijóo revealed today at the exit of an event in Madrid. “I hope that in the next few weeks, once the investiture is finished, the appropriate turnover in the party will take place, at the request of Mr. Mazón and in a very correct and very consistent way with his decision to resign as president of the Generalitat and to resign as president of the Valencian PP.”
The leader of the PP was perplexed that Mazón will also go to the Senate and described yesterday’s commission of inquiry in Congress on Dana as a “circus” for the actions of some left-wing deputies. “This is a tragedy, it is not a circus.
