Félix Lebrun, winner of his brother Alexis in a magnificent final, was crowned in Muscat

For a long time, Félix Lebrun failed to beat his older brother Alexis in competitions, then succeeded, one day in October 2024 and victory in Montpellier. Since then, the younger ones have ruled, and the older ones no longer win. Saturday, November 22, Félix Lebrun won again against Alexis (4-3), and showed Alexis the count of his consecutive wins in their direct confrontation, by raising three fingers to the sky at the end of the match. His younger brother can be proud, winning the Stars Contender in Muscat (Oman), but his success against Alexis was certainly never easy.

In the final of the third category tournament on the world circuit (WTT), Félix Lebrun started the match perfectly, winning the first three rounds. Untouchable since entering the competition on Thursday, the 19-year-old Frenchman has yet to concede a set to his opponent and doesn’t imagine his brother making things difficult for him, as he saved four match points in the fourth set.

In a series of points, each as exciting as the next, Alexis Lebrun managed to get three sets back to nowhere and once again had fun torturing her youngest brother. Amidst some grimaces and increasingly visible annoyance, the latter vented his frustration in an angry cry before failing one final time, in a seventh and final round that table tennis players dubbed “beautiful”.

Three Frenchmen in the Final of the WTT circuit

This time, the first match point was right for Félix Lebrun, winner of his third title on the WTT circuit after achieving it in Montpellier, in October 2024, and in Tunis, in April 2025. Thanks to this coronation in the Oman tournament, the youngest of the Lebrun brothers awarded himself the prestigious seed status for the Circuit Final, where the sixteen best players of the season will compete in Hong Kong from 10 to 14 December.

For the first time since 1999, France will have three representatives. Simon Gauzy validated his participation despite being knocked out in Oman in the round of 32 on Thursday, as did Alexis Lebrun. The 22-year-old Frenchman, who was sixteenth in the “Race” and last to qualify before the Stars Contender in Muscat, hopes to ensure his presence in the Final thanks to his good performances during the tournament. An unhappy finalist, he consoled himself with the second qualification of his career for this prestigious end-of-season meet.

That goal was therefore fulfilled for the eldest of the Lebrun brothers, whose year was disrupted by a fracture to his right little finger in March, which forced him to undergo two operations and caused him to miss several major tournaments. Alexis and Félix Lebrun, as well as Simon Gauzy, now have two and a half weeks to perfect the final details of their preparations for the Hong Kong Final, the final meeting of the 2025 season.
