There was a basement fire in an apartment building on Streibstrasse in Halle this morning. As POLICE reported that a wooden door was on fire, causing thick smoke. Smoke spread to several apartments and required evacuation.
A number of residents received medical treatment for suspected smoke poisoning. It is still unclear how many people are affected. Some apartments are currently uninhabitable due to heavy smoke. Based on information, the fire has now been extinguished. Police have started investigating the cause of the fire.
