Five people died after a “head-on collision” between two cars, south of Saône-et-Loire, this Monday afternoon, according to local media, the president of the department and the gendarmerie.
The four women and a man who were in the 4 x 4 vehicle and the city car were all killed, none of them survived, according to information from Ici Bourgogne.
“They are all local residents,” explained Caroline Ageron, sub-prefect of Louhans, to the Journal de Saône-et-Loire (JSL).

“I would like to express my most sincere condolences tonight to the families of the victims and salute the many firefighters,” the president of the Saône-et-Loire department, André Accary, reacted on Facebook. He also detailed, in particular, that the Samu helicopter had traveled to the scene of the tragedy to ensure “this very emotional intervention”.

The investigation must determine the responsibility for this accident, while about forty firefighters were still at the scene of the tragedy at night, according to information from JSL. Among the witnesses, “a nurse performed an emergency discharge and a heart massage,” Captain Romain Comte told a local newspaper.
