The funeral of soldier Hadar Goldin begins
Hundreds of Israelis gathered on Tuesday morning to attend Hadar Goldin’s funeral at Kfar Saba cemetery. After eleven years of waiting, Israel on Sunday announced the repatriation of the body of an Israeli officer, killed in 2014 in the Gaza Strip, which was previously handed over to the Red Cross by Hamas as part of a ceasefire agreement in the Palestinian territory.
“We will remember him forever,” read a banner with large blue letters hanging above the road leading to the Kfar Saba military cemetery.
“Walk the right path and, most importantly, do not hate each other. This is Hadar’s legacy.”his father, Simcha Goldin, told the crowd. “Hadar does not swear, I ask you to behave the same and there is a small Hadar every day in your life. »
People, sitting or standing on plastic chairs, followed broadcasts of the funeral on large screens set up outside the cemetery, some of them flying Israeli flags or portraits of Hadar Goldin. In the crowd were several elected officials and military officials, including the chief of staff, Eyal Zamir, who described Hadar Goldin as “Fighter, until the last moment”.
