Kylian Mbappé – The PSG soap opera will have a crucial episode on Monday with a hearing in the Paris industrial court in which the Blues captain will demand from his former employer the payment of unpaid debts of 55 million euros as well as the reclassification of his CDD into a permanent contract.
At the industrial courthouse in Paris, unaccustomed to handling such high-profile cases, the two sides will meet from 1 p.m. “directly at the decision office”, without going through the “conciliation” box beforehand, “because Kylian Mbappé requested the reclassification of his CDD into a permanent contract”, a judicial source told AFP.
Contacted, the capital club and the group of Real Madrid strikers wanted to provide their comments on the hearing, the decision of which will not be taken for several months, taking into account the deadlines in force at the industrial court.
“There is only one employee facing a loser,” Mbappé’s lawyer, Me Delphine Verheyden, said at a press conference in April, adding that her client was “responsible for ensuring that his rights are respected, for himself but also for all the other players” harmed by their clubs.
This dispute has long poisoned the star’s relationship with his former club. The striker was absent from the professional group at the start of the 2023-2024 season by PSG, because he wanted to complete his contract until the summer of 2024, while also closing the door on an extension at the end of the season. Mbappé was finally reinstated after the first day of the championship.
PSG slams “fantastic story”
PSG confirmed that this recovery was carried out following an agreement between the two parties which stipulated that the player had to hand over part of the amount due at the end of his contract, in order to maintain the club’s financial health. A “fantasy”, according to Mbappé’s camp.
The Blues captain, who eventually joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2024, is at the end of his contract without transfer compensation for PSG, thereby claiming unpaid bonuses and wages of 55 million euros, instead insisting that no agreement to rule it out exists between him and the club, according to his entourage.
An “extraordinary story”, stressed PSG, referring to the meeting in the heart of the summer of 2023. The player had in April obtained a precautionary confiscation of the amount from PSG’s account, but this decision was then overturned on May 26 by the court.
LFP and FFF cannot make a decision
Monday’s hearing at the Industrial Court took place four months after the withdrawal of a criminal complaint for moral harassment filed by the player in May against PSG in July. Despite this recall, the investigation that had been opened was still ongoing this summer.
The two sides also argued for a long time before the sports authorities, LFP and FFF, who stated that they were unable to enforce the decision in favor of the player, due to the ongoing orientation hearing requested by the club before the Paris judicial court. It was supposed to be held in May but was postponed, and no new date is known.
Sports-wise, the star is currently going through a prosperous period. Author of the double on Thursday against Ukraine (4-0), which brought his number of goals scored in all competitions to 400, a precocious record at the age of 26, he contributed greatly to the qualification of the French team for the 2026 World Cup.
With a minor injury, he was available for Real Madrid, where he has been a strong performer, showing that he has indeed turned the page at PSG for a few months, not without paying tribute to his former club, during his Champions League coronation in the spring.
